BUSINESS

Businesses are the creators of jobs, ideas, and wealth for all of us.

The Goal - Promote Business interests and entrepreneurs, investment incentives, and less Government intrusion and frivolous regulations. Remove the taxpayer burden of paying for Corporate Welfare.

Examples of Corporate Welfare

We underwrite the cost of American Companies to advertise abroad.

We subsidize the building of roads for Timber Companies.

We give over 1/2 billion of our tax dollars annually to companies like Chrysler, 3M, Texas Instruments, etc. for Research and Development (R&D). The legislation, law, is called the Advanced Technology Program (ATP) or "Aid for Dependent Corporations". R&D is something these companies would do anyway if they want to stay in business.

JOBS

Private businesses create jobs. The Government does not create jobs, never has and never will. The jobs in Government are paid for by our tax dollars. There are many jobs in Government that are required. There are many that are not. An increase in private sector jobs will occur when there are fewer Government jobs because there will be less tax money required to support Government jobs which means more money available to the private sector. This sounds kind of confusing but what it means is that for every Government job there is one less job in the private sector and less of your money to dispense, as you want. The unemployment rate was higher in 1939, after the Government provided 10 million people with jobs, then it was in 1932.

"Hell, if public spending created jobs, unemployment would be as dead as a dodo."

The Goal - Reduce the number of Government jobs, bureaucrats, and increase the number of private sector jobs. The current strategy is to reduce the number of military personnel and say that the number of Government jobs has been reduced, BS.

DEFENSE, THE MILITARY

"The Congress shall have the power to raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years." U.S. Constitution

"If, to obviate this consequence, it should be resolved to extend the prohibition to the RAISING of armies in time of peace, the United States would then exhibit the most extraordinary spectacle which the world has yet seen, that of a nation incapacitated by its Constitution to prepare for defense, before it was actually invaded. As the ceremony of a formal denunciation of war has of late fallen into disuse, the presence of an enemy within our territories must be waited for, as the legal warrant to the government to begin its levies of men for the protection of the State. We must receive the blow, before we could even prepare to return it. All that kind of policy by which nations anticipate distant danger, and meet the gathering storm, must be abstained from, as contrary to the genuine maxims of a free government. We must expose our property and liberty to the mercy of foreign invaders, and invite them by our weakness to seize the naked and defenss prey, because we are afraid that rulers, created by our choice, dependent on our will, might endanger that liberty, by an abuse of the means necessary to its preservation." Alexander Hamilton

Even in a time of piece we need to sustain a viable military force. For years our military has systematically been reduced and weakened. We would have a tough time mounting a force like the one used in the Gulf War. We cannot foresee the future but we should be prepared for it, the dangers are infinite. The "Bad Guys" are still out there and the weaker we appear the bolder they will become.

The Goal - Increase military spending and restore the confidence in our ability to thwart any threat. Insure that the men and women who proudly serve in the military have every available means, training and equipment, to defend this country and lend a hand if needed elsewhere.

COMMENT - To the men and women who have served and serve and who have made this site possible: THANK YOU. It's hard to believe that having written so many words, as you can see on this site, that I can not think of something to say other than Thank You.

NASA

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, is one of the few Government programs from which we all benefit. The benefits far exceed the cost. I remember lying in the back yard watching for "SPUTNIK". I remember President John F. Kennedy's speeches about our future in space. What Happened?

The Goal - Increase funding for NASA. Let's get going. There are wondrous things to see and do.

HUD

The Housing and Urban Development Agency.

"Take it out behind the barn and kill it with an ax." P.J. O'Rourke

The Goal - There are better ways. One noteworthy avenue that is available is the "Habitat For Humanity" headed by former President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter.

IMMIGRATION

Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution grants Congress the power "To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization". Therefor immigration is a Federal issue and not a state issue.

Throughout its history America has experienced periods of increased immigration; English, Germans, Irish, Italians, Chinese, Japanese, Southeast Asians, etc. On each occasion there was moaning, whining, and fear expressed by those already here, who seem to have forgotten how they got here. Each time the newcomers have been harassed and given derogatory nicknames. The current wave of immigration fits the pattern. This will pass. Equilibrium will be reached. No fence or law is going to stop it. This does not imply that current laws and enforcement policies should be relaxed.

The Goal - No special treatment. Illegal immigrants should not receive "FREEBIES", except Medicaid for use in emergencies.

AMTRAK

Amtrak is a business and should be run like one. The Government cannot run a business.

The Goal - Sell it!

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION

The "RULE OF LAW" states that everyone is equal under the law and that no law should grant privileges to a group or person nor should any law discriminate against a group or person.

The Goal - Support and enforce the "RULE OF LAW". Seek advise from Colin Powell and others.

DRUGS

It is obvious that the current drug policy is a disaster. Many of our current drug policies/laws are an infringement on individual rights and responsibilities. These laws are not designed to control drug use, they are simply a political ruse that enables the Government to intrude into our lives. "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin

There is a war, but it is not against drugs. It is a war against American Freedom. Making criminals out of people who choose to use drugs solves nothing it only creates problems.

The Goal - Find a way to help those who want it. It may require trial and error and experimentation. It may even require legalization of some drugs. Legalization does not have to be nation wide. It can be tried in temporary areas. Do not make laws that slam the door shut on any innovation or technique that may arise. Stop the lying and propaganda.

FOREIGN POLICY

When did Bosnia and Hercegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo, etc. become countries?

What is our Cuban policy? It appears to be directed towards one man and shrouded in false pride. We should normalize relations with Cuba. The people of Cuba should decide their own fate. When relations with Cuba are normalized there will be a long and bitter fight over who owns what. It will be chaotic before it is settled.

Debts owed to the U.S. should be collected, if possible. Foreign aid can and should be reduced where possible. The funding of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund with our tax dollars should cease, it is nothing more than international welfare.

If foreign conflicts arise and the proposed solution is to send American men and women into harms way there had better be a convincing and meaningful reason. Note: Article 11, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution states, "the President is the Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States…." Once the President has made a decision we should give our full support to the decision.

Our traditional allies; Israel, England, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Saudia Arabia, Tawain, etc. should be treated with the same dignity and respect that one would have for a friend. And as a friend we should lend assistance when and if requested.

NATO Expansion?

The Goal - Stop the flow of money from the U.S. to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Seek consul from those who know much more about world affairs; Henry Kissinger, Zbignew Brezezinski, George Bush, etc. Make wise and thoughtful decisions about entering into armed conflicts, a few prayers wouldn't hurt. Rescind the embargo on Cuba. Strengthen are bonds with our allies and forge new and lasting alliances with other nations.

GATT & NAFTA

GATT, GENERAL AGREEMENT ON TRADE AND TARIFFS, and NAFTA, NORTH AMERICAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT, are interesting pieces of legislation. Raise your hand if you have read or know what is in them. The answer is still allusive after three years, no one seems to know. These documents contain information that affect each of us daily. The GATT document is 20,000 pages long. It went through the Congress on the "Fast Track" which means that you would have had to read and comprehend about 2,000 pages a day before you had to vote on its passage. Talk about speed reading.

What rules and regulations are in these two documents? There may be an item on one of the pages that gives the farm away. GATT and NAFTA need to be opened up and aired out. It appears that we signed contracts without reading them. Too much of our legislation gets passed with few knowing the contents, other than the title.

The Goal - Find out what is in these documents, tell the American people, and revise and/or revoke them if necessary. Free and/or Fair Trade with every nation is desireable but we should not sign a contract because someone says "Trust ME". Free and/or Fair trade agreements should be negoitiated thoughtfully and they should be worded simply, "Do you want to have Free and/or Fair trade with us? Check YES or NO".

"FAST TRACK"

"Fast Track" legislation was passed by the Congress in 1974? It gives the President of the U.S. the power to negotiate a trade agreement and then allows the Congress 14 days to review and vote for or against it. The U.S. Constitution specifically states that it is the responsibility of the Congress to regulate commerce with Foreign Nations, trade agreements. It is not the responsibility of the Executive Branch.

The U.S. Congress is constantly trying to delegate its authority to others. Perhaps they don't like their job description.

If it takes three or four months or longer to read, digest, and analyze an agreement then take it. The world will not end. There are two "Fast Track" agreements that have passed in the past couple of years, NAFTA and GATT.

If allowing the Executive branch to negotiate trade agreements is beneficial to the U.S. then why do we have a trade deficit? The trade deficit has been growing each year since the "Fast Track" legislation passed. It should be obvious that the Executive branch does not do a very good job.

The Goal - "Fast Track"? NO! Return this job to the Congress.

PRAYER

DURER

Is it desirable to have prayer in public schools? Yes. Is it legal to have prayer in public schools? No.

The U.S. Constitution says nothing about "Separation of Church and State". The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..........", i.e. the government is forbidden from establishing a State religion and from favoring one religion over another. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1962, Engel v. Vitale, and again in 1963, Abington School District v. Schempp, that prayer in public schools is prohibited. In addition, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1985, Wallace v. Jaffree, that some moments of silence are disapproved. These rulings have done much to alter moral behavior. How do we get around the rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court? Many have suggested an Amendment to the Constitution. This will require a 2/3 vote from both Houses of Congress and ratification by 3/4 of the States. Should we try to nullify the rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court and what are the consequences? Is prayer in public schools a political or a moral issue? Do the U.S. Supreme Court rulings violate the Tenth Amendment?

Questions? Questions? Who has the answers? Are we going to let the 535 men and women in our Congress decide? The best choice of action is to teach your children prayers to say prior to entering the school grounds.

The Goal - Keep the Government out of the decison. Encourage parents to resolve the problem.

LAW

"A true law should not name any particulars, so it should especially not single out any specific persons or group of persons.

The "law" that is a specific command, an order that is called a "law" merely because it emanates from the legislative authority, is the chief instrument of oppression. Since there is no kind of action that may not interfere with another person's protected sphere, neither speech, nor the press, nor the exercise of religion can be completely free. In all these fields freedom does mean and can mean only that what we may do is not dependent on the approval of any person or authority and is limited only by the same abstract rules that apply equally to all." F.A. Hayek

The Goal - Repeal "laws" that are nothing more than payoff to certain groups to get their vote. Freedom can only come if we all live by the same known rules and where no one is special under the law.

"ENGLISH" ONLY

The "Rule of Law" is applicable, see LAW. Almost all business transaction, contracts, and communications in this country are in English. Learn it! This may seem abrupt, but generally, if you want a good job and a future then you are going to have to be able to read, write, and speak English.

Multilingual and multiculture and English only statutes violate the "Rule of Law". They grant a privilege to a group of persons and create conflict.

The Goal - Repeal Multicultural, multilingual, and English only "laws" that are nothing more than an attempt to get votes. Demonstrate that this type of thinking only serves to generate discord and can eventually lead to fractures within a country.

MINIMUM WAGE

"LAWS" that establish a minimum wage only raise the bottom rung of the ladder. The minimum wage effects few heads of household. Those who are heads of households on minimum wage receive other benefits, AFDC, WIC, etc. Therefore, their real income is far above the minimum wage.

Raising the minimum wage causes unemployment to rise. Think about it, if a company could hire two entry level employees for $5.00 an hour each then what happens when the company has to pay a minimum of $6.00 an hour - someone has to go. Look around, why are most gas stations now self service? Is home delivery pizza the next to go? The market should determine the minimum wage.

The minimum wage benefits only those in groups that claim to be helping. With each raise in the minimum wage these groups cry, "Look what we have done for you". The reality is they have helped retain power for themselves and hurt those they claim to be helping.

President Clinton has stated that raising the minimum wage will not raise the standard of living for the poor. This is true.

The Goal - Oppose minimum wage increases. Emotions will skew this issue, hiding the truth, as they do so many other issues. This is another vote getter.

ARTS & HUMANITIES

The National Endowement for the Arts and the National Endowement for the Humanities fund and preserve much of our Culture and Art. They fund the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian. A Biblical quote goes well here, "Man does not live by bread alone."

The Goal - Keep these two agencies fully funded. Their funding should not be terminated because a couple of idiots put gross things in jars and call it Art.

TRADE

Some of the political discussion about trade deficits does not make sense. Trade deficits should be calculated on a per capita basis not gross numbers. It seems obvious that a country with a small population will always have a gross trade surplus with a larger country, there are more people in the larger country to purchase goods. The corollary should also be true, the larger country will generally have a gross trade deficit with a smaller country, there are not as many people in the small country to purchase goods.

The Goal - Fair and/or Free Trade or at least the removal as far as possible of trade barriers is desireable. Tariffs generate adverse reactions. Competion is the only way to go.

RACE & GENDER

Notice the picture on the front page? I'm a white guy. I was born that way.

I do not have much of a clue of what it means to be Black, Female, Hispanic, Gay, etc. I do know what it means to feel love, to have hopes and dreams, and to feel emotional pain. I do know what it feels like to be shunned, ridiculed and harassed, and belittled, perhaps not with the intensity and hatred that some have felt.

We have these human characteristics in common. Every human being should be treated with dignity, respect, courtesy, fairness, and tolerance. No person should be subjugated or coerced or manipulated. This country is for all of us. The Constitution is for all of us, though sometimes you have to wonder given some of the court decisions.

If I would not like it happening to me then I figure no one does.

The Goal - Treat everyone with dignity, respect, courtesy, fairness, and understanding. Stand up and be counted in opposition to injustices. Of all the goals on the various subjects contained in this site these will be the hardest. It is easy to "Dogpile" on the wabbit. If you haven't been there don't ask.

POLITICAL REFORM

What does this mean? It sounds good and you can get votes if you're for it. The system works.

There are two major problems with the political system. The first and primary problem is the voters, we are the problem. We don't care. Most elected officials are elected by as few as 10% of the people. Example: Candidates A and B are competing for a political office. The voter turnout is 30% of eligible voters. Candidate A gets 51% of the votes so Candidate A is elected by 15.3% of the eligible voters. The 15.3% is heavily influenced by an even smaller percentage. These are the people who are working in the trenches. The different groups; unions, political parties, people with axes to grind, etc. form this small minority and are the people who get their candidate elected. The first thing we must do is get informed and get out and vote if there is to be politcal reform.

The second, and minor, problem are the "laws" that create hurdles for candidates. Example:

1998 CANDIDATE FILING INFORMATION GENERAL GUIDELINES, for the State of Kansas

"Candidates for public office may be nominated either by political party nomination or independent nomination. Democratic and Republican candidates must run in the primary and may file by either fee or petition. Candidates of othere recognized parties (currently, Libertarian and Reform) do not run in the primary, but are nominated for the general election by the party caucus or convention. Independent candidates do not run in the primary and may file for the general election only by petition. All candidates must pay report fees and all non-federal candidates must appoint treasurers and file periodic campaign finance reports."

The Goal - Get people motivated. Your vote really does matter. Repeal "laws" that favor Political Parties.
