TRADITIONAL AMERICAN MUSIC

**Inquire about a FLATLAND STRING BAND performance at 316-942-6107**

The FLATLAND STRING BAND provides lively acoustic performances crafted to draw the listener into an era when the string band was one of the community's most vital entertainment resources. Their repertoire spans from old time to contemporary tunes but focuses on American, Irish and European tunes representative of the ethnic mix in the American Midwest in the late 1800's. Performances highlight history and differences in rhythms and styles of this interesting segment of traditional music.

The FLATLAND STRING BAND evolved in late 1994 after the members met while performing individually at Old Cowtown Museum in Wichita, Kansas. While Cowtown performances continue, the band also regularly performs for reunions, festivals, weddings, contra dances, receptions, and numerous events at museums, community centers, coffee houses and private venues.

The FLATLAND STRING BAND instrumentation consists of guitar, tenor and five string banjos, mandolin, fiddle, bass fiddle, 30 button Anglo concertina, autoharp, penny whistle, bohdran and a variety of hand percussion instruments.
