JOHN AND ESTHER WORLEY

Primarily because of information published in the Mormon database, there is a persistent belief that John Joseph Worley is descended from John and Esther Worley of York County, Virginia and that Esther is really Esther Blount. Both assertions are incorrect.

Although John and Esther Worley lived long enough to have a son Joseph, there is no evidence that they did. There is no mention of a Joseph Worley in the Will of John Worley or in any of the Deeds or other documents reviewed.

Although the Esther Blount is about the same age as the Esther who married John Worley, there is no evidence that John Worley ever visited North Carolina or that Esther Blount ever visited Virginia. The evidence indicates that John Worley lived and died in Virginia. There is no evidence that any Blounts moved to that part of Virginia or that John Worley had any dealings with any Blounts.

EDWARD WORLEY

Edward Worley lived near John and Esther Worley in York County and may have been a brother. A couple of his sons moved to North Carolina ca 1739, but there is no evidence that they ever met the family of John Worley of North Carolina.

Edward had a brother William Hayward Worley.
