This Indenture made this 28th of February 1797 Between Jos Jno Worley of South Carolina, Chesterfield & Lovick Worley of Halifax No Carolina & Robert Worley of Nash Between Marriott Davis of the State of No Carolina & County of Halifax of the other part, witness that the said Jos Jno Worley, Lovick Worley & Robert Worley for & in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds Virginia Money hath given granted Bargained sold and confirmed & by these present doth absolutely grant bargaon sell and confirm unto the said Marriott Davis his heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract of land lying situated in the State of North Carolina & county of Halifax, lying on the west side of Hazelnut Branch. the where John Worley Sr. formerly lived the part of land he gave to his son John containing by estimation one hundred and seventeen acres, be the same more or less. Beginning on Hazelnut Branch on the mouth of Worley Spring Branch up the said Hazelnut branch to George Moores corner pointer on the said Branch, thence on the said George Moores line to John Lees line thence on Lees line to Worleys Spring Branch, thence down the said Branch to the first station together with all manners of woods, timbers, ways and waterways or anything else belonging or there-unto belonging together with all the timbers ways and waters or anything else being or thereunto Belonging with reversion or reversions the remainder titles or Interest of him the said Jos Jno Worley Lovick Worley & Robert Worley of Nash. To have and to hold the said one hundred & seventeen acres, he the same more or less with all the priveledges & appertenances unto the said Marriott Davis his heirs or assigns to them & their proper use & behoof free? & clearly exonerated & discharge of s. from all duties & Imcumbrances whatsoever & said Joseph John, Lovick Worley & Robert Worley of Nash their heirs & assigns doth covenant & agree with him the said Marriott Davis his heirs & assigns that they the said persons the aforesaid Land & premises with all & every of their appertenances unto them the said Marriott Davis his heirs & assigns agt any claims the lawful claimor claims of any person or persons whatsoever and will warrant & defend & forever defend said Land & premises & that said Joseph John Worley Lovick Worley & Robert Worley of Nash their heirs Executors or Administrators shall upon reasonable notice give in at June Court for the County of Halifax State of No Carolina at anytime after the date of these presents appear s. make acknowledgement of the afsd Land & premises as the law requires & that the said Joseph John Worley, Lovick Worley, Robert Worley hath just right & title to the said Land & premises with all and every of the appertenances unto him said Marriott Davis his heirs and assigns forever.
